Robyn Lam

M.A., RP, CCC

Robyn is a Registered Psychotherapist whose work is regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is also a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She has a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and is currently working on her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Adler University (Vancouver).

Her doctoral research focuses on client outcomes in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), a theoretical framework she was trained in via Behavioral Tech. Prior to her doctoral program, in her role as a family therapist, she facilitated a yearly 20-weeks DBT skills group for outpatient and residential youth at the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GHCCMH) in Toronto (Ontario). She also partnered with SickKids Learning Institute in providing training to clinicians interested in DBT work with adolescents. While her training covers diverse approaches, she is mostly grounded in two highly researched, effective, and complementary models: DBT and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT/EFFT). She also has a keen interest in neuroscience, and a developing interest in Existential approaches.

For over a decade, Robyn has enjoyed developing therapeutic programs, providing psychoeducation, and learning from her psychotherapy experience with clients from all walks of life. She has worked with adults in her independent practice to address various forms of anxiety, mood issues, life transitions, and intimate relationships. Outside of direct clinical practice, she has taught family therapy and provided clinical supervision to clinicians and graduate/medical students from various disciplines (social work, psychology, psychiatry). While at GH-CCMH, she was an Adjunct Lecturer with the partner institution, University of Toronto’s Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.

Robyn loves a good conversation, animal documentaries, efforts, not falling down on ski hills (or anywhere for that matter), film festivals, watching things germinate, and, unbelievably, psychology. She is currently enjoying the stimulating life of a graduate student, and keeping up with an impossibly ferocious kitty that has yet to grow out of his kitten phase, to her delight.

Robyn is available Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings for Zoom sessions only. She is not available for evening or weekend appointments.
