Clinician Positions at the DBT Centre of Vancouver

Applicants are invited to apply for full- or part-time clinical positions at the DBT Centre of Vancouver (DBTCV). Located in beautiful downtown Vancouver, BC, Canada, the DBTCV has become a hub for evidence-based psychological treatments (primarily CBT and DBT), and the training of clinicians and students. We serve a broad range of adult and adolescent clients. We have a comprehensive DBT program and an active, supportive consultation team, including psychologists, counsellors, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical psychology students. Duties include providing intake assessments, and individual and group therapy services to adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of presenting problems, including problems characteristic of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other complex difficulties.

The position involves several enriching training opportunities, including individual and team supervision in DBT and related treatments (e.g. CBT, RO-DBT, DBT for children and adolescents, and DBT for PTSD), didactic training in DBT and CBT (through ongoing courses and workshops hosted through our centre), and the opportunity to participate in a weekly clinical consultation team. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with your level of training.

Requirements: Applicants must have a degree from an accredited graduate program in clinical or counselling psychology (e.g., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D. or Psy.D) or social work (MSW) and be registered (or eligible for registration) with their respective bodies. Previous experience in providing psychotherapy services such as CBT is required, and experience and training in DBT for adults and/or adolescents is preferred. We seek individuals who are enthusiastic about the treatment of complex, multi-problem clients. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents.

Location: Our offices are centrally located in downtown Vancouver. Situated on the southwest coast of British Columbia, Canada, the Vancouver area has consistently been ranked among the best places in the world to live. Adjacent to both the mountains and the sea, and only a short drive to Whistler and a short ferry ride to beautiful Vancouver Island, the Vancouver area has a unique combination of virtually unlimited recreation and cultural opportunities (see www.tourismvancouver.com).

Application Process: Interested applicants should email electronic copies of their CV and a 1-2 page cover letter describing their background, interests, career goals, and reasons for applying to Dr. Alex Chapman & Dr. John Wagner c/o Ms. Jen Gerullis (officemanager@dbtvancouver.com). In addition, applicants should have 3 reference letters emailed (officemanager@dbtvancouver.com), faxed (604-569-1230) or mailed to the DBT Centre of Vancouver (1040-1200 Burrard St, Vancouver BC V6Z 2C7).
