Shelby Bacon

Shelby is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC#16627) with nearly a decade of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families navigating a range of mental health challenges. She has significant experience working with emotion dysregulation, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, neurodevelopmental differences, chronic illness and disability, and relationship challenges.

Shelby’s clinical experience spans both private practice and Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH), where she has provided individual and group therapy, mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and collaborative care. She holds a Master of Counselling (MC) degree and is currently completing a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology at Adler University. Her doctoral research explores the impact of chronic illness visibility on identity development and meaning-making in young adults.

Shelby’s approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has also completed additional training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). Alongside practical skills, she helps clients develop greater awareness of their emotions and nervous system, creating a space where they feel safe to explore difficult experiences, deepen self-understanding, and reconnect with their own capacity for healing and resilience.

Shelby is available on Mondays from 9am-5pm for Zoom sessions, and Tuesdays from 9am-5pm for in-person or Zoom sessions.

Outside of her clinical work, Shelby enjoys spending time in nature with her partner, discovering new restaurants, unwinding with a good Netflix series, and never saying no to a good snack or sweet treat.
