Mabel Yu is a postdoctoral fellow at the DBT Centre of Vancouver. She recently completed her pre-doctoral residency at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, providing evidence-based treatment and assessment services to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and trauma-related disorders and difficulties. During her residency, she also worked extensively with clients who have an intellectual disability and concurrent mental health concerns. Prior to completing her residency, Mabel worked in various hospital and private practice settings in Calgary and Regina, conducting psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessments and treating a wide range of mental health problems.
Mabel predominantly uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) strategies to support clients in meeting their therapy goals. She works with her clients from a compassionate and collaborative approach, tailoring treatment to match the unique preferences and needs of each client.
As a newcomer to Vancouver, she enjoys exploring the city and the bountiful hiking trails with her partner and their two dogs.
