Dr. Lin Bao is a registered psychologist at the DBT Centre of Vancouver (#2938). She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC, and she completed her predoctoral residency with Nova Scotia Health in Halifax, NS
Lin has a particular interest in supporting individuals with complex challenges and trauma on their journey of healing and striving toward a better life. Because of this, she spent the majority of her clinical training working with clients with a variety of trauma histories and symptoms (e.g., PTSD, complex PTSD, etc.), as well as clients with a wide range of challenges, such as borderline personality disorder and other personality disorder traits, anxiety, OCD, suicidal and self-harm urges and behaviours, relationship difficulties, and perfectionism.
Lin is a firm believer in a client-centered approach in treatment. While her work is rooted in the DBT framework, she also brings in other treatment approaches as needed based on what makes sense for the client. These include cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE), emotion-focused attachment-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), radically open DBT (RO DBT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Lin is available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am – 5pm for in person or Zoom sessions. She is not available for evening or weekend appointments.
Outside of her time at DBTCV, Lin is also a certified trainer and supervisor for the Connect Attachment Programs, training practitioners across the globe to deliver Connect parenting groups for parents of teens with significant mental health challenges.
When she’s not working, Lin enjoys playing with her two dogs, exploring the world with her partner, listening to podcasts, and watching movies.
