Cassandra Turner

M.A.

Cassandra (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University (SFU). She obtained a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Simon Fraser University in 2022 and a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Victoria in 2019.

Cassandra’s research focuses on emotion regulation and nonsuicidal self-injury in children, teens, and young adults. She is interested in how nonsuicidal self-injury can be effectively treated and prevented and how to foster emotion regulation skills throughout the lifespan.

She has experience providing evidence-based treatment for children and teens in both private and medical settings with presenting concerns such as anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, selective mutism), sleep problems, obsessive-compulsive disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, pain, and coping with chronic medical conditions.

Cassandra is completing a practicum with the DBT Centre where she will specialize in providing comprehensive DBT and working with teens who struggle with borderline personality disorder, non-suicidal self-injury (cutting, burning, etc), as well as chronic suicidal ideation and behaviour. Her primary supervisor is Dr. Michel.

Cassandra is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays for in-person or Zoom sessions. She is not available for weekend or evening appointments.

In her spare time, Cassandra enjoys reading fantasy novels, spending time at the beach, hiking, and travelling to new places.
