Marisa Mylett

Marisa (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University (SFU). She obtained a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from SFU in 2023 and a B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology from SFU in 2020. Marisa’s research focuses on social camouflaging, identity, and mental health in neurodivergent populations.

 

Marisa has training in evidence-based treatment and assessment with experience in private practice, community mental health, and hospital settings. She has experience providing therapy services to children and teens across various neurotypes who face a range of challenges, including anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, and selective mutism), obsessive-compulsive disorder, emotion regulation difficulties, disordered eating, sleep problems, and interpersonal difficulties. She also has experience supporting caregivers of youth with mental health concerns through individual and group services.

 

Marisa is completing a practicum with the DBT Centre under the primary supervision of Dr. Bethany Michel. She will be specializing in providing comprehensive DBT and working with teens who struggle with borderline personality disorder, non-suicidal self-injury, as well as chronic suicidal ideation and behaviour.

 

Marisa is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays for in-person or Zoom sessions. She is not available for weekend appointments. Please inquire with your insurance provider if services provided by a doctoral student supervised by a registered psychologist are covered.

 

In her spare time, Marisa enjoys spending time in nature, playing soccer, and poking around local farmers markets and vintage shops.
