Dr. Sankar is a registered psychologist at the DBT Centre of Vancouver. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Ontario in London, ON, and completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, NS. Dr. Sankar completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at the DBT Centre of Vancouver, during which she received intensive training and supervision in dialectical behaviour therapy. Her clinical background involves working with adults with mental and physical health comorbidities, as well as depression, anxiety, and interpersonal difficulties. Her strong interest in DBT developed during her graduate studies, while completing practicum training in a comprehensive DBT program. Dr. Sankar has also acquired extensive training in the area of health psychology, working with individuals with various medical conditions including chronic pain, cancer, neurological issues, and in acute care. Dr. Sankar maintains a keen interest in mental health advocacy and awareness and has been involved in many such initiatives during her training. Outside of work, Dr. Sankar likes spending time with friends and family, travelling to unique destinations, cooking and trying exotic cuisine, and enjoys tennis, practicing yoga, and exploring the beautiful BC landscape. t.
